For the rain barrels be sure to find rain barrels which offer mesh mosquito guards, and also look for barrels which have overflow valves-allowing the excess water to flow out of the rain barrels and away from your foundation. Hooking a drip hose to this valve is a great way to give your garden or flower bed a constant source of moisture.

It is pathetic to see the neon green sign saying license suspended on the doors of the Whole Foods Market in Lincoln Park after they failed the Friday re-inspection! Employees are standing there with handouts to give to customers. What can they possibly be saying? "We're sorry we couldn't keep the store clean enough to prevent a rodent infestation where we sell food for your consumption, but here take this flyer!"

SNAFU - situation normal, all fouled up. Seems nothing has changed. I worked at the Lincoln Park, Butt Whole Foods while going to culinary school in Chicago in 2000. After two weeks I had to quit because the sanitation was a joke. There was a gang of kitchen workers that came in at morning and worked the entire day without washing their hands, even after going to the toilet. These guys would scratch their hair and even their keisters. Most of the hand wash sinks in the main kitchen were broke and taped up. Sanitation was a joke. Workers would leave the doors open on the first floor next to the dumpsters to take a smoke break, golly how to the mice get in. The food prep was a joke. The supervising cook would stretch out the recipes with filler to lower the food cost. I would make a recipe according to the company recipe card and he would add whatever to increase the bulk. I could only stand the place for two weeks. Whole Foods went against everything I was learning in culinary school and my years of experience in professional kitchen. The managers were clueless all they cared about was the corporate image and bottom line. You may feel warm, and fuzzy and close to mother nature by shopping here but you better beware. I would laugh at Butt Whole Food's Corporate Image and the crap they put out Nothing has changed and I'm surpirsed it took this long to close this festering kitchen down.
